My Story

Hi!

My name is Kim, and I am a student clinician from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. I have spent the last 20 + years working in healthcare as a licensed physical therapist assistant in most healthcare settings, but I have spent the majority of my career working with older adults in long-term care facilities. Counseling was something that I have always wanted to pursue, so I decided to take the plunge and go back to graduate school to chase my dream!

I believe in taking a holistic and integrative approach to therapy while creating a safe space for my clients to heal. I am passionate about helping those who have had challenges in their lives due to physical disabilities, trauma, grief, addictions, anxiety/depression, and self-esteem issues. I also love to help those who are in the throes of life and are having to make difficult life transitions.

Therapeutic orientations that I incorporate include using an individualized, person-centered approach while adding some elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy, somatic work, parts work, and/or mindfulness-based techniques. My goals as a student clinician are to help my clients feel understood, supported, safe in their bodies, empowered, and more self-aware with an improved quality of life!
