My Story

In the midst of a thriving insurance career some years ago, I envisioned myself as a counselor. I knew that I was already a good listener but I desired the training, a place to work and you, my client. Then one day, these dreams came to fruition and I entered grad school at Colorado Christian University. My heart's desire for my clients was to fulfill a longing that I knew only too well -- to be fully known and accepted. I believe that counseling is a journey, where clients are guided not instructed. I utilize a holistic approach that encompasses all aspects of one’s life: childhood, conditioning, family of origin, as well as current life events. I advocate for my clients so that they can unravel the lies they believe about themselves and begin to discover the truth of who they are. Traumatic events not only disrupt one’s emotional development but also attempt to redefine one’s identity into one that is primarily shame based. My therapeutic modalities include non- pathological approaches such as Internal Family Systems, Inner Child Healing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy. Working with children is my passion and as a Registered Play Therapist™ I have a deep appreciation for a child’s ability to communicate through play.  Let it also be known that I have many adult clients too, because after all there is a child in all of us.

"By engaging in the process of play, children learn to live in our world of meanings and values, at the same time exploring and experimenting and learning in their own individual ways."  Play Therapy: The Art of the Relationship, Gary Landreth, 2024
